The Whitley Wildcats are one of 9 teams that play out of Whitley Bay Ice Rink and we have been around for over 15 years.

We are currently coached by Phil Gosling who has been in place for 5 years. We are also captained by Lee Fairbairn who is assisted by David Scott and Jan Loland.

The team is built on one simple premise which is to train and play as a team regardless of ability or score line which has been visible for the past 5 years with how many players that have resigned and also how we have attracted new players.

Individual skill levels within the team ranges from Ex league players right through to players that learnt to play through us.

The individual skill levels have given us an advantage as every single player helps each out and everyone is willing to go the extra mile for each other.

Whitley Bay teams have always had a “tough” reputation which has hindered us as a team in the past as teams have either shied away or came out to prove a point which has been a difficult reputation to shake.

Phil and Lee have worked extremely hard to demonstrate to other teams that this reputation is not warranted and showed through our play and team spirit that we are here to have fun and have a great bunch of lads that just love the game of hockey
